KINGSTON, Jamaica – The third race on Saturday, July 22, 2023, is three-year-old Maiden Special Weight in which six horses will face the starter.

The distance is a mile, with The Quick Galloper’s assessment given below.

1 – POWER OF HER HIGHNESS is a bay filly (May 28) by Key To Power out of Her Royal Highness, trained by Oral Hayden with Anthony Thomas aboard. Slowly finding her way as her racing career develops. Power of Her Highness has shown that she will not be unduly troubled by a mile, yet will have to show additional improvement for success here.

2 – MR SENATOR is a roan colt (May 1) by Natural Selection out of Khadiliah, trained by Anthony Nunes with Tevin Foster in the saddle. Based on past form, Mr Senator does not inspire confidence.

3 – JOBLANE is a bay colt (May 18) by Savoy Stomp out of Patchwork, trained by Richard Azan with Jawara Steadman aboard. Has been a disappointment to date. Joblane gets another chance to get it right.

4 – UNCHARTER is a bay colt (February 15) by Hedge Fund out of Little Gidding, trained by Jason DaCosta with Phillip Parchment in the saddle. Note, Uncharter races the blinkers on. Did much on last when finishing third on July 8, going 9 ½ furlongs. A mile will be to his liking, but apart from the July 8 effort, Uncharter has been a disappointment.

5 – RICHIE RICH is a chestnut colt (January 31) by Soul Warrior out of Red Gold, trained by Jason DaCosta with Reyan Lewis aboard.  Has been consistently hitting the board in his five starts thus far. Led for most of the way on July 8 going 9 ½ furlongs. The reduction of the trip by 1 ½ furlongs will suit Richie Rich, who is expected to get off the mark.

6 – CRUCIAL ALEXXYA is a grey filly (March 8) by Admiral Alex out of Crucial Cat, trained by Carl Anderson with Shamaree Muir in the saddle.  Despite having started on 12 occasions, this grey filly is still trying to catch the beat.

7 – WAR HORSE is a late non-starter.
