KINGSTON, Jamaica – Trainer Anthony Nunes saddled his second winner on the 11-race card at Caymanas Park when Latapy gave a courageous effort with apprentice Reyan Lewis in the saddle to win the one-mile event for horses at the Restricted Stakes level – non-winners of two lifetime. Lewis was also winning his second on the day.

Latapy was with the leaders after a furlong was run, but overtook his stable companion Rohan Kabir (Dane Nelson) leaving the half-mile point in the race.

In the straight, Lewis kept Latapy on the inside rails and the three-year-old bay colt battled for all he was worth to repel firstly the challenge of foreigner Alhamdulliah (Omar Walker) and in the final furlong Purple Wayne (Anthony Thomas).

Nunes’ first winner on the day was Royal Approach, while Lewis was aboard Beltane.

The winning time was 1:39.3.
