KINGSTON, Jamaica – In the close race for the 2021 trainers’ title, champion trainer Anthony Nunes responded to the win by main rival Jason DaCosta in the first race (Tomohawk) with victory by Hecandance in the Caymanas Saturday sixth – a three-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($550,000 - $500, 000) contest at one mile.

With Shane Ellis in the saddle, Hecandance was kept off the pace set by Innovator (Javaniel Patterson), racing easily in fourth place.

Ellis was his usual patient self, as Innovator kept setting the splits, but while making the turn for home, Hecandance got a clear run on the inside, and from there the matter of winning was over and done with.

Blood Fire (Andre Powell) came on to snatch second place with My Time Now (Anthony Thomas) third.
