KINGSTON, Jamaica – Although tiring in the final furlong while veering to the outside, Qurandero just withstood the late push of Mighty Chelsea to win the Caymanas Sunday second.

With jockey Tevin Foster losing his claiming 'bug', Qurandero who started at odds of 3-5, followed first timer Buzz Assault who set the early splits. Mighty Chelsea at this stage was well behind the front two in fourth.

Foster pushed Qurandero to take the lead while coming around the final bend and entered the stretch for the last two furlongs in front.

In the final furlong, Qurandero looked unsettled as Mighty Chelsea and Another Cookie (Samantha Fletcher) mounted their challenges.

But Qurandero held on to release the maiden tag from his 15th start. A neck behind in second was Mighty Chelsea with third place going to Another Cookie.
