KINGSTON, Jamaica – Lure of Lucy made it two wins in a row when she displayed lots of grit and determination to take the feature event on the Caymanas Monday card – the RonRon Trophy.
The RonRon Trophy, the Caymanas Monday tenth was run over six furlongs for local three-year-old and upwards (non-winners of four races) and for imported horses (non-winners of three).
From the starter let them go it was Secret Identity (Javaniel Patterson) and Lure of Lucy setting fast splits of 22.3 x 45.4. For the first 2 ½ furlongs Hoist The Mast (Kiaman McGregor) was also present but when the first two stepped it up a notch, Hoist The Mast was left behind.
Racing on the inside Secret Identity kept going with Lure of Lucy as the two reached the top of the straight locked together.
Then over the last two furlongs, it was touch and go, but Thomas called upon his reserve and Lure of Lucy responded by digging in going on to win by 1 ¼ lengths.
Secret Identity was second with Nuclear Noon (Linton Steadman) filling the third slot.
