An open Overnight

For the second straight race day, there is no trophy race being offered and again highlighting the 11-race racecard that punters have to deal with is an Overnight Allowance contest going 7 furlongs (1,400m).

A total of 15 runners are down to take part in this competitive event with more than half the field capable enough to land that crucial blow for victory.

Below is the analysis of the race.

WINTER IS COMING: (5-y-o dkb g Storm Craft – Heart of Gold) – Was no match for Run Thatcher Run and Mr Universe in a 5 ½-furlong event on September 7. In that event, Winter Is Coming was seen making strong headway in deep stretch for his sixth-place finish. Now going longer at seven furlongs, Winter Is Coming’s final rattle could prove hard to withstand but coming out of the number one draw is going to have a negative effect on his chances.

STORM: (4-y-o b g - Natural Selection – All For Pleasure) – Although in fairly good nick, Storm, who steps up from high claiming to Overnight Allowance, should find the going rough in this one.

MY ELLE BELLE: (4-y-o ch f –USA  Horse Greeley – Fast Actress) – Has been very disappointing in recent times despite exhibiting some amount of class in her early racing career. My Elle Belle came into her recent races well backed but failed on numerous occasions to deliver. Given the nature of this race and her capability, My Elle Belle can turn around her form and run a capital race but to do so, she has to shed any misbehaviour at the starting gates.

CAPTUREMYSHIP: (5-y-o b h - Adore The Gold – Mayken Joy) – Finally returned to the winners’ enclosure in a four-furlong (800m) race on September 7. Capturemyship, although stepping up to compete, can win again under present condition but to do so he must step up on his game.

TARANIS: (7-y-o ch g - Adore The Gold – Beware Baby) — Was an upset winner on last for the first time since 2016 when he romped home quite easily in an Optional Claiming ($1,000,000 - $850,000) event on September 11 over 5 furlongs (1,000m) round. Taranis ran the event in a time of 1:01.1 for his 1 ½-length victory. That run suggested that Taranis is again heading in the right direction and could surprisingly get home if in the right frame of mind. Has more than an outsider’s’s chance of winning this one.

EL PROFESOR: (4-y-o b g - Casual Trick – The Principal) – Was a no show in a 5 ½-furlong (1,100m) event on September 7. Before that unplaced effort, El Profesor was running some decent races and could rebound with a capital effort. A winning run is not unlikely from the ‘Teacher” come tomorrow.

ANNA LISA: (4-y-o b f - Adore The Gold - Anna) – Finished a remote fourth in the recent Errol “Big Sub” Subratie Memorial Trophy over one mile on September 14 after struggling for a while. With her well-being now exposed, Anna Lisa could find her way in the mix of things.

LICI’S PEPSI: (4-y-o dkb f - Blue Pepsi Lodge - First Choice) – Struggled in her races and can easily be bypassed.

MADAM SECRETARY: (4-y- ch f - Film Director – Lisa Vibes) — Recent winner who is going to find repeating a tall order.

JACKO LINKS: (4-y-o dkb c - Distorted - Verify) — Is going to find these too hot to handle while he still learns to find comfort at this level.

SUMMER SUN: (3-y-o ch c - USA Afleet Alex - A Love Theme) – Came back with a good effort on last when finishing third behind Toona Ciliata and Uncle Vinnie in the Errol “Big Sub” Subratie Memorial Trophy over one mile on September 14. Summer Sun continues to improve with each run and could prove hard to beat but sometimes he seems to lack the oomph to get the winning job done.

NIGHT LIGHT: (5-y-o dkb g - Tracking – Orphan) –Doing fairly well in his recent races but has a difficult task of winning.

KAPPONE: (4-y-o b c - Taqarub - Lear Jet Set) – Should get 7 furlongs with ease but Kappone comes up against rivals he can’t manage and is going to be left behind.

WARTIME:  (6-y-o ch m – War Marshall – Time Crisis) – A very consistent sort who has been running some very good races of late without getting into the winners’ enclosure. Wartime is not going to find this distance taxing and is going to have an impact in this race.

RICKY RICARDO: (4-y-o dkb g - Storm Craft - My Friend Lucy) — Good sort who continues to make his presence felt in his races. Ricky Ricardo, with two runs at this level so far, should now come into his own and run a good race without actually winning.
