KINGSTON, Jamaica – Splendid Vision trained by Roy Matthews with Oshane Nugent in the saddle pulverised bettors by winning the Caymanas Saturday (Oct 30) first at odds of 20-1. This was after the Reggae – 6 which has a mandatory payout sold $14,234,534.

This was Splendid Vision’s fifth career victory from 29 starts and was achieved in an Optional Claiming ($555,000 - $500,000) event going six furlongs.

It was a tussle involving 2-5 favourite Glock (Linton Steadman) and Blind Faith (Tevin Foster for the early advantage after the starter pressed the go button.

Glock had more speed and took over with three furlongs left in the contest as Splendid Vision raced on the rails in about sixth place.

Turning for home it was still Glock with Nugent making a sharp move to the outside on Splendid Vision, and that was when the five-year-old grey mare started to propel, catching Glock and then pulling away for a three length win.

Third was Lord Ashton (Chris Mamdeen).
