KINGSTON, Jamaica – Longest shot in the field of eight at 26-1 Queen Deftiny with Natalie Berger aboard rocked the betting pillars at the Park in the Caymanas Sunday (April 3) second.
Trained by Donovan Plummer, Queen Deftiny gained success in a five-year-old and upwards – non-winners of two call – going six furlongs.
Berger waited in second place as Little Buzz (Chris Mamdeen) set the fractions followed by Silverstine (Romario Spencer).
Berger then decided that enough was enough as she pushed Queen Deftiny to the lead rounding the last part of the turn for home.
In the stretch, Queen Deftiny kept going off course towards the outside rails but had enough to win by 3 ¾ lengths. Commandante Lunar (Omar Walker) finished in the second spot with Duke of Springs (Mario Chung) third.
The exacta paid a whopping $7,164 and the Trifecta $9,612.
