A New Beginning – Watch Gary Subratie Saddle First Winner In US

Trainer Gary Subratie celebrated a triumphant breakthrough when he saddled his first winner at the prestigious Gulfstream Park in Florida on Saturday, June 21, 2025.

Rogers Park trained by Subratie and ridden by jockey Yolber Torres—secured victory in the sixth race of the day. The race, a maiden claimer covering 1 1/16 miles.  

“This is a significant development in my career,” Subratie expressed with heartfelt enthusiasm. “This is my second time I am training at Gulfstream, and to saddle my first winner here is truly a stepping stone. I am hopeful that this trend will continue, and I am eager to build on this momentum.”

The trainer acknowledged the overwhelming support he has received from countless well-wishers including from Gulfstream Park’s esteemed track announcer and a cherished friend of Jamaica, Pete Aiello.

In an engaging post-race interview with Quickgallopja.com, Subratie credited his unwavering partnership with long-standing owner Trevor James, whose steadfast support has been instrumental throughout his journey.

 "I can never quantify the support I've received over many years from Mr James," he remarked. "He has been the solid foundation on which my successes in Jamaica have been built, and now, he is with me at Gulfstream, sharing in this exciting new chapter."

Currently, Subratie’s has a stable at Gulfstream, with five horses under his care —three promising two-year-olds and two seasoned racers, both of which participated in Saturday’s card.

  1. Is Subratie planning on staying at Gulfstream or training simultaneously at Caymans as well similar to Jason DaCosta?
