KINGSTON, Jamaica - Entered for a tag of $300,000 defeat was out of the question for the Wayne DaCosta trained formerly Overnight Allowance campaigner Radical. Veteran reinsman Phillip Parchment only had to ensure the five-year-old roan gelding was not allowed to idle although the gallop was devoid of fluency it was enough for a near two-length winning margin to open the card.

Patrick “Wacky The Professor” Lynch was set for a good day when his five-year-old mare Adoring Lady (Delroy Beharie) escaped the strong late challenge of Holy Light by one stride for a short-head victory margin in the second.

Morning Star (Christopher Mamdeen) made all in the third to shed his maiden tag and send the members of Lynch’s ownership syndicate Rising Star to pose for photos in the winner’s enclosure.

The strong home stretch sprint of the thoroughly game, genuine and consistent seven- year-old Another Bullet delivered the feature Caribbean Sprint Championship to close the three-timer for the hardworking Lynch, who is currently fourth on the top 10 list of trainers this season.

A massive downpour leaving the track resembling a river in spate proved to be showers of blessing for title-chasing second generation conditioner Anthony “Baba” Nunes in partnership with apprentice Reyan Lewis as they controlled the hour allotted to the fourth and the fifth events.

She’s Symbolic, an expensive short-priced failure in her last three events, was too strong for her rivals over the 1600-metre trip to kick off the Nunes eventual three-timer.

Although Tricky One almost lost balance through interference leaving the Clubhouse Turn and again 1100 metres out the colt stayed on well to close the popular trainer/jockey double.   Earlier in the day Nunes had engaged Mamdeen to replace Lewis on down-in-class favourite Reassurance in the sixth and she obliged by the narrowest win margin in the final stride to make it two on the day for the leading rider.

The succeeding hour allotted to the seventh and eighth events belonged to second generation trainer and former jockey Gary Subratie.  Outstanding prospect Wow Wow, the smartest juvenile so far this season, went clear early to register a near thirteen-length victory margin on the sloppy track. In a hugely competitive 1500-metre race for three-year-olds with less than three wins, champion Anthony Thomas showed immaculate timing to induce a late run from 45/1 chance Crimson to outstay rivals in the challenging underfoot conditions.

Mother Nature (Douglas Badaloo), obviously tired of being a front runner, relished being held up behind the pacemakers and ran on well from the top of the stretch to overtake the leaders close home to score by a neck for trainer Wilfred Chin.

It was pleasing to see the long-serving reinsman enjoy his second success from only 14 rides so far this year.

Patrick Lynch is presented with the Training Feat Award for posting Another Bullet looking four years younger than its seven years to win the Caribbean Sprint and to the strapping                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          gelding the Best Winning Gallop accolade for a flawless exhibition.

The Jockeyship Award goes to Douglas Badaloo for his tactical acumen in taking a decision to prove that Mother Nature’s speed can be deployed and consequently more effectively.
