KINGSTON, Jamaica – In a scintillating performance, I’ve Got Magic surprised all at searing odds of 17-1 to win the Seeking My Dream Trophy feature, which was an Open Allowance call at 7 ½ furlongs.
I’ve Got Magic with Paul “Country” Francis in the saddle for trainer Philip Feanny was the last to load and when the gates opened it was Runaway Algo (Chris Mamdeen) and I’m Fred (Phillip Parchment) who vied for the lead with I’ve Got Magic following.
Rounding the turn, Runaway Algo dismissed I’m Fred from contention by putting on two to three lengths as I’ve Got Magic moved into second place.
In the straight, Runaway Algo under heavy pumping was galloping resolutely with I’ve Got Magic inching forward.
With half-furlong left in this contest, Runaway Algo looked the likely winner but I’ve Got Magic and Francis found something extra to get the neck in front when the winning post arrived. Further and Beyond (Linton Steadman), the 4-5 favourite finished third.
The winning time was 1:32.2 with fractions of 23.4 x 47.1 x 1:10.4.
