The 2026 renewal of the St Elizabeth Distaff takes top billing as the seventh event on a ten-race card for Jamaica Day, Monday, October 19, 2026.
Restricted to three-year-old and upward fillies and mares competing at the Overnight Allowance level, this prestigious Distaff clash is contested over a distance of one mile.
A competitive field of seven talented runners has taken their entry, with The Quick Galloper’s assessment of the contenders detailed below:
1 – MISS GROVE
This Canadian-bred filly has shown admirable prominence in the majority of her Overnight efforts, though she previously found the going tough against top-tier contenders like Girvano and Barnaby. While Miss Grove faces a more favourable field on Monday, she will still encounter a stern test against these rivals. Her connections are looking for a turnaround, introducing equipment changes with both a tongue tie and a figure-eight now fitted.
2 – DREAM CATCHER
Undoubtedly the standout filly of the 2026 three-year-old crop. While Dream Catcher is completely at home tackling a mile, this marks her career debut in Overnight Allowance company. Punters and connections alike will find that securing a spot in the top four is the most realistic expectation for this filly.
3 – SUPERNATURAL POWER
Making a welcome return following a 114-day layoff. There is little question that Supernatural Power boasts the class of this field. Having raced with distinction against many of the heavyweights, she drops significantly down the class ladder. Even while conceding weight to all six rivals, Supernatural Power shapes as the horse to beat.
4 – LINGUIST
Enters the Distaff hot off a well-earned victory over six furlongs just 16 days ago. Known for consistency on the track, this reliable filly makes a strong selection for exacta tickets.
5 – MAIN MISTRESS
Has endured a quiet 2026 campaign, with her last trip to the winner's circle coming in this exact race last November. On that occasion, Main Mistress and jockey Raddesh Roman dictated terms with a decisive single move, a front-running tactic she is expected to employ once again. However, sustaining that speed all the way to the wire will prove a formidable challenge.
6 – STARRAURA
Still searching for her footing in the demanding waters of Overnight Allowance. That quest continues today, though she is expected to serve as an early pace prompter.
7 – MISS MONEYPENNY
Best known as a sharp sprinter who has not stretched beyond 5 ½ furlongs in her last eight appearances. Expect Miss MoneyPenny to struggle with the distance and fade out of contention in the stretch.
