In a performance shift, four-year-old chestnut filly My HoneyDew (Hedge Fund – Ricqualia) comfortably outclassed rivals to capture her maiden victory in a native-bred four-year-old event at 6½ furlongs (1,300m) at Caymanas Park on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
Conditioned by trainer Henry Harrison, the filly, who had failed to finish in the frame in her first three career outings, produced a transformed effort, powering away to a decisive 5½-length triumph with jockey Chalrick Budhai in the irons.
Nothing in My HoneyDew's previous runs hinted at such an outcome. She debuted with a distant 14th-place finish, beaten 36 lengths over 6½ furlongs on April 19, followed by a 6th-place effort, 3¾ lengths behind over 4 furlongs on June 7, and another 6th-place finish, beaten 16 lengths over the 5-furlong straight course on July 5.
However, she looked like a completely different horse from the moment the gates opened on Saturday. Away cleanly, she settled into second position tracking leader Grey Lightning (Nicardo Carr) along the backstretch before closing in smoothly. As they approached the straight, Budhai called for an effort, and My HoneyDew answered instantly, seizing control with confidence.
My HoneyDew faced a brief threat inside the final furlong from Drop Off (Tajay Suckoo) and Tilluride (Richie Shakes), but summoned another surge in the final strides to pull clear for an emphatic victory.
Drop Off stayed on for second, while Tilluride filled the third spot. My HoneyDew stopped the clock at 1:25.0, posting fraction times of 24.1, 49.4, and 1:18.1.
The win provided a welcome success for both trainer Henry Harrison Jr and jockey Chalrick Budhai, signalling that My HoneyDew may finally be fulfilling her potential after a bad start. The result marked Harrison's second win of the racing season, while Budhai notched his third victory in the saddle.
