KINGSTON, Jamaica – Former two-time winner of the Sprint Championship Chace The Great after a lull in his form which saw him running nine times in 2019 without a win, found his best stride today with a hard fought victory in the feature Overnight Allowance event over 5 ½ furlongs.
Running behind the leaders Mr Universe, Lala Diva and God of Love, Chace The Great got going with 1 1/2 furlongs left in contest as jockey Kiaman McGregor pushed hard to get and keep his mount in front when the winning post arrived from the fast finishing Uncle Frank.
McGregor said after the race that he had partially lost full use of his foot in one of the stirrups but in the end it did not matter as “Chace The Great was at his best again.”
Second was Uncle Frank with third going to God of Love.
This was the first winner for trainer Vincent Atkinson.
The winning time was 1:07.1.
