Royal Poppy – Of the 13 starters, only one is a female: #2 Royal Poppy, trained by Gary Subratie.

Past-winning jockeys – Two riders bring winning memories to this year’s line-up. Omar Walker, victorious in 2015 and 2016 aboard Seeking My Dream, and again in 2019 on She’s A Maneater, returns with proven big-race credentials. Robert Halledeen, who steered Will In Charge to glory in 2018, also seeks another Diamond Mile triumph. Walker rides #12 Nautical Star, and Halledeen #5 Funcaandun.

Trainer records – None of the conditioners represented this year have previously won the Diamond Mile.

Locally bred contenders – Two horses carry the local banner: Blue Vinyl, a true Jamaican-bred, and Neo Star, classified as local due to his importation in utero.

Track record holders – For the first time in Caymanas Park history, three current record holders clash in the same race. Phenomenal Power (7½ furlongs), Legacy Isle (7 furlongs), and Rideallday (8½ furlongs).

Three-year-olds – Youth is represented by Sir Don and Phenomenal Power, the only two three-year-olds in the field.

Oldest campaigners – At the other end of the spectrum, Of A Revolution, Blue Vinyl, and Neo Star, all seven-year-olds, stand as the elder statesmen of the race.

Winning machine – The horse with the most wins in Jamaica is Rideallday with nine successes from 11 starts.
