It was a banner weekend for Jamaican horse racing connections at Gulfstream Park in Florida, highlighted by a riding double from jockey Anthony Thomas and a thrilling victory for prominent owner Micros.

From Friday through Sunday, Jamaican talent was on full display in the winner's circle.

Friday, July 3: Game Energy

The winning streak kicked off in Race 3 on Friday, courtesy of a stellar ride by Anthony Thomas aboard Game Energy. Trained by Jamaican conditioner Rohan Crichton, the victory was a true testament to the island's racing synergy.

Despite breaking a step slow from the gate, Thomas didn't panic. He saved ground, chasing the pace intently from the inside. Navigating the far turn, Thomas launched a brilliant rail bid, driving Game Energy through the stretch run to edge out the competition under all-out pressure.

Saturday, July 4: Drama in the Stewards' Room Brings Thomas a Double

Thomas returned to the winner's circle on Saturday under much more dramatic circumstances aboard the Diley Dakin-trained Amelia.

During the race, rival horse World Traveler stalked the pace and launched a three-wide bid near the quarter pole. However, World Traveler drifted heavily through the stretch, forcing Amelia wide and compromising her chances. Following a tense steward’s inquiry and a jockey objection filed by Thomas on behalf of Amelia, the stewards ruled that World Traveler had caused significant interference. World Traveler was officially disqualified and placed second, awarding Amelia and Thomas a hard-fought victory.

Sunday, July 5: Trelawny

The weekend was capped off beautifully on Sunday by the Micros-owned Trelawny, putting the final stamp on a highly successful stretch for Jamaican connections.

Trained by veteran conditioner Jose Pinchin, Trelawny was perfectly positioned throughout the race. Tracking the leaders three-wide in striking distance, the horse was urged to improve his position around the far turn. Responding generously to energetic handling through the stretch, Trelawny produced a powerful late surge to get up just in time for the victory.
