Imported American dark bay Nautical Star left no doubt about his class at Caymanas Park on Saturday, June 27, 2026, putting on a front-running clinic to capture the Supreme Ventures Limited 25th Anniversary Trophy. The six-year-old completely dismantled his opposition in the one-mile feature, cross the line a commanding 7½ lengths clear in a sharp 1:35.3.
Under a tactical ride from former champion jockey Omar Walker, the Anthony Nunes trainee seized control the moment the gates opened. Nautical Star dictating terms at his own leisure down the backstretch, leading a chasing pack that included Don Kwesi (Demar Williams), Sensational Soul (Dane Dawkins), and Barnaby (Reyan Lewis).
The real test came approaching the five-furlong (1,000m) marker when Supernatural Power, under Raddesh Roman, surged forward to pressure the leader. Walker, however, remained unfazed. He asked his mount for an extra gear entering the half-mile (800m) turn, and Nautical Star responded instantly, re-establishing his dominance. By the time they hit the home straight, the race was effectively over, with Nautical Star cruising away to lead a Nunes-trained one-two finish over stablemate Barnaby. Don Kwesi checked in a distant third.
The fractions for the event were recorded at 24.4, 46.1, 1:09.4, and 1:22.1.
Speaking in the winner's enclosure, assistant trainer at the Nunes stables, Nigel Burke praised Walker's situational awareness.
“Omar (Walker) gave him a perfect ride,” Burke said. “He got him out in front and then he slowed him down, and I saw where Roman made a move aboard Supernatural Power to quicken the pace and Omar didn’t let him catch him. I think that was where the winning move was made, when he increased it once Supernatural Power had come outside of him. I thought that was a smart move, and he’s done well,” he further stated.
