The Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC) is currently conducting another of its Trainers’ Courses at Caymanas Park, this time under the theme “Caricom Express Trainers’ Course.”
The program began at the end of May 2026 and is set to conclude in September, lasting about four months with a scheduled break during the Independence holidays.
This course is shorter than many of its predecessors, which typically ran six to seven months. The most recent course, which ended on May 12, 2023, lasted approximately 11 months due to a larger student intake and the addition of new labs and course material.
Enrollment this time is around 23 students, including four or five international participants. Some of these overseas students attend lectures online, though it remains unclear at this time how their practical training will be managed, as the JRC has not yet issued official guidance on the course.
The cost of the course is $750,000, which is said to cover meals on lecture days, printed coursework, and digital materials.
Classes are held Monday through Thursday. The program is being coordinated by Paul Ramsay, JRC international steward.
