Mighty Gully, a four-year-old bay filly by Buzz Nightmare out of Lady Exotic, added another milestone to her career on Sunday, April 19, 2026, with a commanding victory in the Overnight Allowance category at Caymanas Park.
The filly, trained by Robert Pearson and ridden by jockey Tevin Foster, stopped the clock in a stakes record of 57.4 seconds for the five-furlong straight course, with fractions of 23.2 and 45.4.
The win marked her sixth success from 18 career starts, pushing her earnings past $5 million. What made the performance particularly notable was her triumph from the number one draw, a position long considered a disadvantage on the straight course, where horses drawn wide typically enjoy a clear edge.
Breaking sharply from the inside stall, Foster wasted no time guiding Mighty Gully toward mid-track before angling her to the outside rails. From there, she controlled proceedings, stretching away to win by more than five lengths. Another One, ridden by Raddesh Roman, finished second, while Ricoricorico, partnered by Jaheim Anderson, claimed third.
Pearson’s patient conditioning of Mighty Gully has been central to her rise. Though she played no significant role in the Classic races as a three-year-old, the trainer has steadily developed her through age-group conditions. She will now compete at the Open Allowance level.
Sunday’s victory not only underscored Mighty Gully’s growing reputation. For Pearson and his team, the result was a vindication of their long-term approach.
