The eighth race of ten honours the racing legacy of former trainer, Eileen Cliggott.
Mrs Cliggott, apart from making her mark as an established conditioner, was instrumental in the development and guidance of several young jockeys. Among those she mentored are Richard DePass, Karl Brown, Maurice Thomas, Vassell Najair, and Donovan Lindo.
The Eileen Cliggott Memorial Trophy is a Grade One event for three-year-olds and upward, contested over 6 ½ furlongs. Seven horses have been nominated.
The Quick Galloper takes an individual look at each contender.
1 – INSPIRE FORCE (USA)
This foreigner has not been able to find the winning post in quite some time. Inspire Force possesses the ability to challenge in the straight, but leaving it that late against Grade One rivals is usually too much to ask.
THE VERDICT: Inspire Force will need a dramatic turnaround in form to feature prominently. A minor placing at best.
2 – INTRESTNTIMESAHEAD
His last success came at the Overnight Allowance level. A former Classic winner, Intrestntimesahead has not managed to stamp authority in the highest class. While genuine, his ceiling appears limited, and a top-three finish looks his most realistic outcome.
THE VERDICT: Reliable but not explosive. A candidate for the minor placings.
3 – OF A REVOLUTION (USA)
Launched his local career with victory in the Bruceontheloose Sprint (6 ½ furlongs). When stretched half-a-furlong longer, Of A Revolution went wide and was beaten by Girvano. The two renew rivalry here with no significant change in handicaps. Crucially, the cutback in distance favours Of A Revolution more than Girvano. Difficult to oppose.
THE VERDICT: The one they all have to beat. Strong winning chance.
4 – DIGITAL ONE (USA)
This mare last visited the winners’ enclosure on November 23, 2025, in an Overnight Allowance event. In the aforementioned mentioned race involving Of A Revolution and Girvano, she was hindered when accelerating at the furlong pole. Digital One now shoulders five pounds more, essentially racing at level handicaps with her rivals. To win, she must elevate her performance beyond previous efforts.
THE VERDICT: Honest competitor, but improvement is required.
5 – GIRVANO (USA)
Now four, Girvano appears to be finding his best form, highlighted by victory in the seven-furlong Miracle Man Trophy, where he defeated Of A Revolution and Digital One. However, the cutback from seven furlongs to 6 ½ does not suit his running-on style. Notably, he was third with two furlongs to go in that race, showing grit. This represents another significant test in his career.
THE VERDICT: Classy and improving, but the shorter trip may blunt his late surge. A danger, yet vulnerable.
6 – SUPREMASI
Supremasi has proven effective at the Overnight Allowance level but has consistently struggled when stepping into higher grades. Against this calibre of opposition, his chances appear slim.
THE VERDICT: Outclassed. Unlikely to trouble the principals.
7 – PACK PLAYS (USA)
Most of his four wins from 16 career wins have come at this exact distance of 6 ½ furlongs. Pack Plays ran courageously to finish sixth in the Mouttet Mile, then was outpaced by Legacy Isle over 5 ½ furlongs in the Chris Armond Sprint. With blinkers and a tongue tie applied, Pack Plays is expected to be prominent early. The question is whether he can sustain his effort in the straight.
THE VERDICT: Dangerous if allowed to dictate. Must be taken seriously as a live contender.
