Section One of the Nigel Nunes Memorial Cup, the ninth of ten races on the card of Sunday, October 5, 2025, pits together ten horses at the Overnight Allowance level coming down the five straight course.

The Quick Galloper’s take on the possible outcome is share below in post-position order.

1 – LION CHARMER

A consistent participant at this level but has yet to show the necessary spark to threaten. The inside draw on the straight course is notoriously difficult, and while blinkers are added to sharpen focus, Lion Charmer’s form suggests he’ll struggle to keep pace with the more seasoned sprinters.

2 – PRINCE AMAAN

Loves the straight-course, however, the number two gate could restrict his early momentum. With the visor and tongue tie removed, Prince Amaan appears fresh and fit, and should be competitive enough to secure a placing.

3 – COOKIE DAY N NIGHT

This five-year-old gelding has been knocking on the door without success in recent outings. Though winless in his last eight, he’s shown flashes of ability over the straight. Cookie Day N Night is not without hope, but would need everything to fall into place to land a blow, an outsider’s chance at best.

4 – IMMEASURABLE JOY

Returns to the straight course after a lengthy absence from this distance. While capable on her day, she’s been facing tougher fields and hasn’t shown the turn of foot required for this sprint. Needs a confidence boost and may find this group too sharp.

5 – UNCAPTURED EXPRESS

Steps into Overnight Allowance company for the first time, which is always a testing transition. Though lightly raced and still learning, today’s assignment looks a touch too steep, and experience may be the best takeaway.

6 – ORO ORO

A newcomer to local racing with a respectable record in the United States, two wins and a third from seven starts at Gulfstream Park. Morning gallops suggest he’s acclimated well to local conditions. With natural speed and a favourable draw, Oro Oro could make a splash on debut and is one to watch closely.

7 – COMEHOMEOFHOME

Still finding her feet at this level. Her first attempt in Overnight Allowance exposed her lack of seasoning. Needs more time to develop before posing a serious threat.

8 – MAJOR DANGER

Though win-shy in recent months, Major Danger has shown glimpses of resurgence. Notably, he finished ahead of Prince Amaan over this same course in June. With blinkers removed and drawn wide, he’s well-positioned to run his race. A live contender if he reproduces that effort.

9 – KING’S CROWN

Another debutant at the Overnight Allowance level. King’s Crown has shown promise in lower classes but now faces a sharper tempo and more seasoned rivals. The straight course will test his adaptability, and while not without talent, he’s likely to need a few runs to settle in.

10 – BOOTYLICIOUS

A proven sprinter with nine wins from 20 starts, Bootylicious thrives over the five straight. Her recent form is solid, and she’s drawn perfectly at ten, allowing her to use her natural speed without interference. With conditions in her favour, Bootylicious is the one they all have to beat.

THE QUICK GALLOPER’S VERDICT

Bootylicious holds the edge with her speed, form, and ideal draw. Oro Oro is the wildcard with foreign form and strong morning gallops. Prince Amaan and Major Danger round out the top four with proven straight-course credentials. Expect a fast-run affair with Bootylicious likely to stamp her class.
