The eighth event of nine on Saturday, October 4, 2025, is named after former Gold Cup winners, A King Is Born and Buzz Nightmare.
The A King Is Born | Buzz Nightmare is for three-year-old maidens going the sprint trip of 5 ½ furlongs.
The Quick Galloper’s assessment of the eight horses nominated is shared below for the benefit of readers on this platform.
1 – BIG LA
Entered the competitive fray just three weeks ago and made an immediate impression, finishing third after showing early promise but fading late over six furlongs. The cutback in distance should play to his strengths. Big La is fit, forward, and poised to improve.
2 – SLAM SHARP
A seasoned campaigner with 12 starts under his girth, Slam Sharp continues to inch closer to the winner’s enclosure. His third-place finish last time out confirms his affinity for shorter trips. With experience and form aligning, he’s a genuine threat.
3 – CHIEF IN COMMAND
This chestnut colt has yet to make a meaningful impact in six outings. Still green and searching for rhythm, Chief In Command remains a work in progress.
4 – HUMBLE LADY
Four starts have yielded little more than a sixth-place finish. Humble Lady is still finding her footing and will need time to mature into competitive form.
5 – RUSH OF CLASS
The standout on paper. Rush of Class has shown steady progression, third by two lengths, then second by 2½ lengths. Now equipped with blinkers, he’s expected to sharpen focus and deliver an even better run. The one they all must beat.
6 – MODERN MONARCH
Boasts the most experience with 14 starts but has yet to convert that into meaningful results. Modern Monarch continues to search for consistency and remains an outsider.
7 – ARMY RECRUIT
Lightly raced with two starts, Army Recruit is still learning the ropes. The addition of first-time Lasix could aid his development, but he’s best watched for future improvement.
8 – FORTUNATE BLESSING
Has not yet shown signs of readiness. Fortunate Blessing is well behind the curve and unlikely to factor.
THE QUICK GALLOPER’S VERDICT
Rush of Class holds the edge with form, focus, and equipment changes all pointing toward a breakthrough. Big La and Slam Sharp are the most likely to challenge, especially with their sprint credentials. The rest appear to be in various stages of development, making this a race where class and readiness should prevail.
