The eighth race on Saturday, September 6, 2025, pays tribute to one of Jamaica’s legendary thoroughbreds, None Such.
The None Such Sprint Trophy is a Grade 1 event for three-year-olds and upward. Six runners are entered for this six-furlong dash.
The Quick Galloper’s assessment of the contenders is outlined below.
1 – PACK PLAYS: Received a four-pound relief in the handicaps following a strong win over 5½ furlongs on August 1. This four-year-old is in peak condition and possesses the speed to challenge the top tier—especially if allowed to dictate terms early, though that scenario is unlikely. Remains a live threat.
2 – LEGACY ISLE: Has three wins from six starts this season and seeks redemption after a narrow defeat to Wall Street Trader. Despite carrying top weight, Legacy Isle has been steadily prepared for this assignment. He’s capable of tracking the early pace and launching late, and with the expected fast tempo, conditions should suit. The trip is ideal.
3 – DESERT OF MALIBU: A classy mare who was just edged out in the She’s A Maneater Trophy over one mile. The cutback to six furlongs in the None Such is tailor-made for her. Though injury-prone, she’s been expertly managed throughout a brief but impactful career. Hard to oppose.
4 – IS THAT A FACT: Winless in six starts this year and consistently dealt with in recent races by Pack Plays, Legacy Isle, and Desert of Malibu. The six-furlong distance does not enhance his chances. Unlikely to feature prominently.
5 – DIGITAL ONE: Form and class suggest he will not be a factor in this Grade 1 contest.
6 – WALL STREET TRADER: Recent defeated both Legacy Isle and Pack Plays over this trip. This overseas-bred runner excels when coming from off the pace, and with the race expected to unfold at a brisk clip, his closing style could prove decisive. The only concern is the booking of apprentice Joy Haynes, which introduces an element of uncertainty.
THE QUICK GALLOPER’S VERDICT
Desert of Malibu, with her proven class and ideal distance, holds the edge. Legacy Isle looms as the main danger.
