KINGSTON, Jamaica – He had had many attempts without firing a telling shot, but the aim of Universal Boss was straight today as he hit the winning target in the nightcap just moments ago at Caymanas Park.
The race was a Restricted Allowance for four-year-olds and upwards non-winners of three run over seven furlongs.
With a maximum field of 16 reaching the starting gates, it was a mad scramble for the lead during the first two furlongs of the race.
It was then that jockey Simon Husbands pushed down Universal from the wide outside to take the lead without a fuss to the winning post.
Second some 5 ½ behind in second was the 4-5 favourite Duke with Coco Chanel earning the third slot.
Trained by champion Anthony Nunes, Universal Boss circled seven furlongs in a time of 1:25.1.
