Shakes and Suckoo Shine Among New Jockey Apprentices

KINGSTON, Jamaica – A fresh wave of talent has hit the racetrack, with several graduates of the Jamaica Racing Commission’s Jockeys Training School making their official debuts on Saturday, December 14, 2024.

Since then, 12 of the 30 new apprentices have made their way to the winners’ enclosure, signaling a promising start to their professional careers.

Leading the charge is Richie Shakes, who has secured 14 victories from 87 rides, showcasing skill and determination in the competitive racing circuit. Close on his heels is Tajay Suckoo, who has racked up 13 wins from 104 mounts, proving his consistency and progress.
