KINGSTON, Jamaica - Following his signature victory in the six-furlong Sir Howard Stakes for colts and geldings only, Honour Prince will now be trained for the Classic prep race, the seven-furlong, Prince Consort Stakes scheduled for April 12.

Confirmation came from the trainer of Honour Prince, Robert Pearson in an interview with this website.

THE QUICK GALLOPER (TQG) - How did Honour Prince come out of the Sir Howard?

ROBERT PEARSON (RP) - So far, so good. However, we still need time, to check and make sure all is well.

TQG: Were you anticipating this win?

RP: I had a good feeling going into the Sir Howard. Honour Prince had prepared well, plus he raced against some good foreigners in his last race and did well. Additionally, he had some issues coming out of the gates slowly in a previous race. We worked on that, so, a good effort was definitely anticipated. The fact that Honour Prince won was pleasing.

TQG - Did you learn anything about Honour Prince from the Sir Howard?

RP - Yes! Honour Prince did not change his lead. To run better, more effectively, we will have to work on teaching him to change his lead. In addition, the way Honour Prince won the Sir Howard, gives the distinct impression that he will have no problems going longer.

TQG - Have you decided when next will Honour Prince race next.

RP - Tentatively will everything right Honour Prince will race next in the seven-furlong Prince Consort Stakes, where given the fact that he has now won two races, he will probably head the handicaps.
