KINGSTON, Jamaica - The second race on Saturday, March 1, 2025, is a maiden special weight event going 7 ½ furlongs.
Seven horses have been nominated, and here’s the firm assessment of each contender in draw order by The Quick Galloper.
1 - KHALEESI: A grey filly (March 27) by Aveenu Malcainu out of Cloudy Greyt, trained by Carlton Cunningham, with Raddesh Roman in the saddle. Khaleesi races with the cheek pieces and showed initial speed in her last outing at 5 ½ furlongs before fading in the straight. The extended distance poses a significant challenge for her.
2 - SECRET SENSATION: This chestnut colt (April 16) by Sensational Slam out of Secret Cat is trained by Carl Anderson and will be ridden by Phillip Parchment. Racing with the visor off and first-time Lasix, Secret Sensation was well-backed on debut (Nov 16, 2024) but failed to deliver. After a break of 105 days, he returns meticulously prepared, and a strong performance is anticipated.
3 - ATILA: A bay filly (May 9) by Sunshine N Shadow out of Peace By Peace, trained by Fitznahum Williams, with Samantha Flecther aboard. Atila races with first-time Lasix and narrowly missed victory by a short head on December 21, 2024, but her subsequent performance was subpar. She remains difficult to assess and is likely best suited for a place on the board.
4 - ROARING KITTY: This bay filly (January 28) by Casual Trick out of Salty Talk is trained by Ian Parsard, with Ismael Velasquez in the saddle. Roaring Kitty races with first-time Lasix and is steadily improving, with victory expected in the near future.
5 - ALTHIA: An imported in utero bay filly (February 12) by Fort Loudan out of Truth Is Truth, trained by Gordon Lewis, with Chalrick Budhai as the listed jockey. Althia races with the tongue tie off and the figure eight on. To date, she has not shown indications of potential victory in her five starts.
6 - NEBUCHADNEZZAR: This chestnut colt (April 22) by Soul Warrior out of Queen of Bagdad is trained by Anthony Nunes, with Tevin Foster aboard. Nebuchadnezzar races with the figure eight on, and the best he can hope for is to place in the top four.
7 - UNCLE HARRY: A bay colt (February 19) by Bern Identity out of Long Running Train, trained by Ian Parsard, with Reyan Lewis in the saddle. Uncle Harry races with blinkers on and first-time Lasix. Despite carrying strong hype on debut (February 9), he dwelled in the gates However, his consistent morning workouts give him another chance at success.
