KINGSTON, Jamaica - After the conclusion of 19 races last weekend, three-time champion Anthony Nunes has surged to the top of the championship standings.
Nunes took the lead following impressive victories by Allegiance and Barnaby, the latter in the Chairman’s Trophy on Saturday, February 22, 2025, and a win by Tiz Tok in the prestigious Lindy Delapenha Trophy the following day.
Prior to this weekend's events, Nunes was in second place with earnings of $5,315,150, trailing then-leader and defending champion Jason DaCosta by $1,368,350.
During the weekend, DaCosta secured two wins with Big Pop and Girvano. However, Nunes' additional win, alongside triumphs in the higher-rated races featuring Barnaby and Tiz Tok, allowed him to surpass DaCosta in the standings.
Nunes now boasts total earnings of $8,415,600, leading DaCosta by a margin of $235,650. In total, Nunes has achieved nine victories from 51 starts, while DaCosta has secured 10 wins from 55 starts.
The anticipation builds as the 2025 season continues, with the Classic races approaching on the horizon.
