TOBA’S Yearling Sale offers 114 lots – as new stallions hit the ring

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The 2018 Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders (TOBA) Yearling Sale, as is usual, showcases a number of new stallions.

This year's Yearling Sale takes place on Sunday, Novemver 11, in the official car park at Caymanas Park.

Paradise Farm's Bern Identity, an eight-year-old offspring of Bernstein, was a winner of six races and approximately US$900,000, including the Grade 2 - Sanford Stakes and also finished third in the prestigious Grade 2 - two-year-old Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga. Bern Identity is represented by four yearlings in the sale.

BERNCanadian-bred Sensational Slam, standing at Ham Farms, is sending seven youngsters through the ring.

A 10-year-old chestnut, he was a winner of 11 races and over US $550,000 including the Clarendon Stakes after winning comfortably on his debut. Sensational Slam's grand sire is Gone West.

Silver Medallion, a son of millionaire Badge of Silver from Argyll Farms won five wins and earned over US$426,000 in earnings. He opened his account as a two-year-old, winning impressively over 8 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Saratoga. As a three-year-old he took the Grade 3 – El Camino Real Derby and the following year was a winner of the Grade 3 – Fort Lauderdale Stakes.

Stallions of yearlings whose dams came down in utero include Shakelford, Bellamy Road and Can The Man.

Shackleford by Forrestry, a Classic winner (Grade 1 Preakness Stakes) six races and over US$3 million, was second in the Grade 1 – Breeders' Cup Mile and the Grade 1 – Florida Derby.
