KINGSTON, Jamaica - Following the controversial disqualification of her horse Tekapunt after passing the winning post in front in the second race on Monday, October 21, jockey Samantha Fletcher gave her version of what happened.

“Coming to the one furlong, the two horse (My Sunshine) braced down on me, I could not move, because if I moved, I would kill Raddesh Roman on the inside rails on Salud.

“I don’t know if Roman would have fallen off but something would have happened to him. So, I stayed in my lane and didn’t move.

“Then, I gradually passed back the two horse, won the race,  and in a flash, I was disqualified.

“I then went into the stewards' room to talk to the steward in the chair, and the response was ‘come out, come out, race already move.

“I thought, what is that? That is very poor,” Fletcher said.

  1. JRC holds seminars for every area of racing except their stewards which is the heart of dishing out disciplines but what I have noticed over the years is that emotions played a important role in this area instead of what they are looking at on the film , also being educated with a bunch of degrees should not the main factor for employment in the role because one can be an educated idiot also there are situations in a race where certain actions cancel out the other and a jockey can be disciplined without a disqualification, this what happens on Monday should have this Steward going through some type of training while sitting out for a while because this action causes financial lost in every area of racing
