KINGSTON, Jamaica - Wide Open Two-Year-Old Call On Sat, Sept 28, 2024

KINGSTON, Jamaica - The second race on Saturday, September 28, 2024, is the BGLC/TOBA Millionaire Series for two-year-olds.

The be contested over four furlongs, this maiden special weight call for the first time this season pits locally bred horses against foreigners.

The Quick Galloper’s take on the possible outcome is provided below.

1 - HAMELATA is a bay filly (CANADA February 27) by Point of Entry out of Conquest Bad Gal, trained by Winchester McIntosh with Phillip Parchment holding the reins. This Canadian bred has been moving fluently in the mornings with reports suggesting that she has early speed. One to watch.

2 - FOXY is a bay filly (February 11) by Casual Trick out of Keep The Faith, trained by Ian Parsard with Paul Francis aboard. Finished a noticeable fourth on debut two weeks ago. Then Foxy demonstrated speed, and with that race day experience in her hoofs. Foxy has to be given serious consideration.

3 - LOVISA is a chestnut filly (April 15) by Soul Warrior out of Palace Gold, trained by Jason DaCosta with Robert Halledeen riding. Lovisa was entered to race on August 1 but due to unruly behaviour was declared a late non-starter at the gates. This filly has continued to work well at exercise, showing speed. She is expected to put in a capital effort. Lovisa races with first time Lasix.

4 - FLAG OF VICTORY is a chestnut filly (CANADA March 22) by Point of Entry out of Run The Flag, trained by Winchester McIntosh with Omar Walker in the saddle. Another of the importees, who has caught the eyes of morning onlookers. Flag of Victory based on exercise reports is expected to be in the mix.

5 - UNSPUN is a dark brown colt (USA April 28) by Spun To Run out of U Needa A Ride, trained by Keffin Murray with Michael Semple aboard. Another foreigner, who has been making steady progress at exercise. His time will come.

6 - SASH IT is a bay filly (CANADA February 12) by Gamble’s Exchange out of Desdemona, trained by Rohan Crichton with Victor Sanchez holding the reins. Enters the competitive racing fray with first-time Lasix and the blinkers on. This Canadian bred seems to be a speedy sort based on her morning runs. Has to be watched.

7 - QUEEN LATEPHA is a bay filly (April 5) by Casual Trick out of Gold Price, trained by Lorenzo Robinson with Prince Holder riding. Needs more time.

THE VERDICT: This is a difficult race to access as only two of the seven starters have faced the starter before. As such, based on exercise spins, the top three are Lovisa, Flag of Victory, and Foxy. Take your pick!
