KINGSTON, Jamaica - Following an electrifying debut by the three-year-old newcomer Pack Plays on a Saturday, September 21, 2024, trainer Rowan Ricardo Mathie Jr emphasized that he is carefully managing the horse's progress, with the primary target being the Mouttet Mile in early December.

During the exhilarating 6 ½ furlongs race at the Overnight Allowance level, Pack Plays, making his debut in local events, burst out of the starting gate with jockey Raddesh Roman expertly guiding him, resulting in a commanding lead as they entered the home stretch.

Roman skilfully urged Pack Plays on in the final stretch, prompting the colt to accelerate and finish with an impressive time of 1:17.3 seconds. The splits were recorded at 23.3, 46.3, and 1:11.0.

Mathie Jr expressed his belief in Pack Plays' potential: "He displayed impressive form in training and was at ease at home, so I had high expectations for his performance, and he certainly did not disappoint."

Following the race, Pack Plays showed no signs of distress, quickly returning to his usual routine at the stables. When questioned about Pack Plays' upcoming race, Mathie Jr underscored the importance of maintaining the horse's fitness, with the ultimate objective being the Mouttet Mile.

He noted that the Gold Cup, scheduled just two weeks away on October 5, might be too soon for Pack Plays to return, and they will carefully consider the available races before making a decision.
