KINGSTON, Jamaica – Seven three-year-olds will be competing in the fourth race on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Caymanas Park.

This event is a three-year-old maiden call, spanning nine furlongs and 25 yards.

The analysis below is provided by The Quick Galloper.

1 – SLAM DUNK is a bay colt (born on March 9) sired by Sensational Slam out of Akela. He is trained by Gary Subratie, with Dane Dawkins as the jockey. Notably, Slam Dunk races with the figure eight. He has shown consistent performances over time and this will be his first attempt at a distance longer than six furlongs. He will need to prove himself going two turns.

2 – NEWLAND LINKS is a bay colt (born on May 19) sired by Admiral Alex out of Empress Nicole. Richard Byrd will be riding him. Although Newland Links has been earning well recently, the choice of jockey does not instill much confidence.

3 – LADY KARMA is a bay filly (born on April 20) sired by Legal Process out of Lady Rakwalaay. She is trained by Fitznahum Williams, with Omar Simpson as the jockey. Note that Lady Karma races with first-time Lasix. Despite her poor form, she has previously raced over nine furlongs and 25 yards, finishing second and placing on the board once in five starts. Based on that fact alone, Lady Karma deserves respect.

5 – HERE COME KEN is a bay colt (born on February 16) sired by Here Comes Ben out of Sparkling Michaela. He is trained by Winston Morris, with Phillip Parchment in the saddle. Note that Here Comes Ken races with the cheekpieces on. He can be safely discarded for any consideration.

5 – MR SENATOR is a roan colt (born on May 1) sired by Natural Selection out of Khadiliah. Anthony Nunes is the trainer, and Tevin Foster will be riding him. Note that Mr Senator races with the visor on. Mr Senator has been gradually improving, placing fourth in his last two efforts. With the mediocre level of this field, Mr Senator, bred by a known long-distance stallion, has the potential to cause an upset.

6 – HOME ALONE is a bay colt (born on May 21) sired by Soul Warrior out of Nuclear Princess. He is under the training of Michael Cain Jr, with Devon Thomas as the jockey. Home Alone is still trying, but a better performance is expected from him on Saturday, though not necessarily a winning one.

7 – HERE COMES DOC is a bay colt (born on March 23) sired by Bern Identity out of Indian Bluff. He is trained by Gary Griffiths, with Anthony Allen as the jockey. Here Comes Doc has been continuously improving with each race. Now, he is set to compete over two turns, with seven furlongs being the longest distance he has raced so far. Here Comes Doc is given the nod ion this one.
