KINGSTON, Jamaica - Trainer Nicholas Smith celebrated his fifth win of the year from 20 starts this season when his charge, Breaking Storm, led the entire race in a five-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($180,000-$150,000) event at five furlongs round.

Breaking Storm quickly took the lead under jockey Matthew Bennett and maintained his position ahead of Estalita (Ramon Nepare), Matriarch (Roger Hewitt), and Senor Kwanzi (Anthony Allen) into the half-mile turn.

As the race reached its final stages, Breaking Storm increased the tempo and confidently led the pack into the home stretch. The eight-year-old dark bay/brown horse showed no signs of slowing down as he breezed along to win by an impressive 14 ½ lengths, followed by Matriarch and Hail Mary (Shane Richardson).

The finishing time was 1:04.3 (24.3 x 49.3).
