KINGSTON, Jamaica – As of Monday, August 7, 2023, trainer Patrick Lynch has climbed to third place in the trainers' championship.
Lynch's earnings for the year, calculated until April 5, amounted to $17,965,330, according to official figures. He was $3,355,745 short of third-place Gary Subratie, $7,520,120 short of second-place Anthony Nunes, and $36,532,190 short of the frontrunner, Jason DaCosta.
Following Ability's victory in the Derby and another win on Derby Day with Legal Bomb, Lynch surpassed Subratie by a slim margin of $189,655. Additionally, he reduced the gap between himself and Nunes to $3,101,120.
DaCosta currently leads with a substantial advantage and has secured the most wins in the top 10 list: 52 first-place finishes. Nunes follows with 32 wins, then Lynch with 27 wins, and Subratie with 20.
As we enter the third quarter of the racing year, it is safe to assume that DaCosta will retain his title as champion. Meanwhile, an exciting competition is unfolding for top three honors.
