KINGSTON, Jamaica – On Emancipation Day, Tuesday, August 1, 2023, the eighth race is a six-furlong three-year-old maiden event.
There are eleven horses entered, and below is an analysis of The Quick Galloper in draw order.
- UNCLE NUB: This bay colt (born June 16) is sired by Nuclear Wayne out of Agnes T. Trained by Fitzgerald and ridden by Tevin Foster, Uncle Nub races without a visor but with a tongue tie. He performed well on his debut over this distance, finishing fourth, five lengths behind the winner. With the trainer's equipment change after the debut run, Uncle Nub is expected to put in an even better effort and should be respected in this race.
- CAPTAIN PHILLIP: This chestnut colt (born April 8) is sired by Hedge Fund out of Kandi With A K. Trained by Gary Griffiths and ridden by Oshane Nugent, Captain Phillip has not shown any signs of being a potential winner in his seven starts.
- STEIN: This bay colt (born April 20) is sired by Bern Identity out of Ruby Rose. Trained by Gary Subratie and ridden by Richard Henry, Stein races without blinkers but with a tongue tie. He is slowly developing, and the decrease in distance increases his chances of winning this race. The change in equipment should also be beneficial.
- SLAM DUNK: This bay colt (born March 9) is sired by Sensational Slam out of Akela. Trained by Gary Subratie and ridden by Dane Dawkins, Slam Dunk races without blinkers. He has been consistently performing well in his six career starts but has yet to secure a victory. Slam Dunk has previously won at six furlongs but was disqualified. This Emancipation Day event presents another good opportunity for him to finally win.
- CLOWNING AROUND: This chestnut colt (born March 26) is sired by Patton Proud out of Royal Beauty. Trained by Steven Todd and ridden by Raddesh Roman, Clowning Around is still progressing and not yet ready.
- UNCLE SYL: This bay colt (born March 13) is sired by Resurgence out of Mama C. Trained by Carlton Cunningham and ridden by Youville Pinnock, Uncle Syl races with first-time Lasix. He is still learning the ropes of competitive racing.
- BERNARD DE QUIK: This bay colt (born June 17) is sired by Bern Identity out of Feasibility. Trained by Ian Parsard and ridden by Omar Walker, Bernard De Quik is making his debut and not expected to achieve much apart from gaining experience.
- PASSWORD: This chestnut colt (born May 16) is sired by Bold Conquest out of Zacapa. Trained by Jason DaCosta and ridden by Reyan Lewis, Password has caught the attention of morning watchers, who believe he is well-prepared and could put in a good first effort.
- ALWAYS WRIGHT: This bay filly (born April 4) is sired by Northern Giant out of Kitty Hawk. Trained by Michael Marlowe and ridden by Aaron Chatrie, Always Wright races with a tongue tie. She still needs more time to develop, and her best offering in this race would be a place on the board.
– CASUAL TREASURE is a bay filly born on April 10. She is sired by Casual Trick and out of Peace By Peace. She is currently being trained by Rennex Burrell, with jockey Oneil Mullings aboard. Although still in the learning process, Casual Treasure shows great potential.
– ADORABLE J is a chestnut colt born on April 10. He is sired by Hedge Fund and out of Naseen. Trained by Dale Murphy, Adorable J races with the visor on. However, this factor should not be taken into consideration when evaluating his performance.
