KINGSTON, Jamaica - Three-year-old American-bred bay colt Is That A Fact secured his second consecutive win after a six-month break. The victory came in a race for imported three-year-olds and older (non-winners of three) and native-bred three-year-olds and four-year-olds (non-winners of four) on July 22, 2023.

Is That A Fact, owned by Carlton Watson, trained by Jason DaCosta, and ridden by Reyan Lewis, comfortably triumphed by six lengths over a distance of 6 ½ furlongs. This win follows a 6½-length victory on July 8 over 5½ furlongs. Since debuting in November of the previous year, the bay colt has won three out of five starts on local turf.

During the race, most runners had an even start and contended for the early lead. Volatility, ridden by Omar Simpson, took the lead near the five-furlong pole, with Is That A Fact close behind in second place. Acknowledgeme (Ramon Nepare) and Legit Boss (Tevin Foster) were also in close proximity.

Is That A Fact persistently pursued Volatility and took the lead approaching the half-mile (800m) turn. As the distance neared its end, Acknowledgeme briefly threatened Is That A Fact's lead, but the bay colt displayed strength and pulled away in the final furlong (200m) for a comfortable victory.

Acknowledgeme held on to secure second place, with Royal Ash (Matthew Bennett) narrowly taking third. The race was completed in a time of 1:22.1 (23.2 x 47.1 x 1:14.0).

DaCosta expressed satisfaction with Is That A Fact's performance and noted the colt's improvement. He stated, "It was a good performance by Is That A Fact to win, and I'm pleased with the result. We will evaluate his condition post-race before deciding on our next steps."
