KINGSTON, Jamaica – Nine of the 12 nominated runners in the three-year-old maiden contest on Sunday, March 5, 2023, are racing for the first time.

1 - ARIA’S REIGN is a dark brown filly (April 8) by Resurgence out of Nuclear Warning trained by Steven Todd with Richard Henry aboard. Nothing exciting has emerged in the mornings. The learning curve begins.
2 - FIRST BORN is a chestnut colt (April 1) by Sunshine N Sunshine out of Nuclear Affair trained by Patrick Lynch with jockey Robert Halledeen aboard. Has caught the eyes of watchers in the mornings. First Born comes from good stock with her mother a former Classic winner. He is expected to make a noticeable first appearance, plus his exercise spins have been positive.
3 - MR FETE is a chestnut colt (April 9) by Bold Conquest out of Come Dance With Me trained by Anthony Nunes with Linton Steadman aboard. Another well-bred newcomer, Mr Fete has attracted attention at exercise. Onlookers say Mr Fete is a speedy sort in the making, who will enjoy coming down the chute.
4 - GREY COMMANDER is a grey colt (March 30) by Valiant Minister out of Uncle Tammy trained by Gary Crawford with Jerome Innis in the saddle. Progressing at exercise, his time will come soon.
5 – KINDRED SPIRIT is a chestnut colt (April 25) by Key To Power out of Wings of Hope trained by Anthony Nunes with Andre Powell in the saddle. Was way back on debut (February 18), will have to wait. Note, Kindred Spirit races with the visor on.
6 - JOBLANE is a bay colt (May 18) by Savoy Stomp out of Patchwork trained by Richard Azan with Anthony Allen in the saddle. Said to be making his way in the mornings, but will need the run to find his true self.
7 - CALIFORNIA GOLD is a bay colt (April 6) by Lion Tamer out of Blue Saphira trained Patrick Lynch with Reyan Lewis aboard. California Gold is said to be one of worth based primarily on his exercise spins. A good effort is expected.
8 – JUBBIE WAP WAP is a grey filly (April 19) by Spieth out of Wap trained by Michael Thomas with Jordan Barrett aboard. Made a dismal debut, not likely to do anything better.
9 - CLOWNING AROUND is a chestnut colt (March 26) by Patton Proud out of Royal Beauty trained by Steven Todd with Bebeto Harvey aboard. Require more time.
10 - SELECT PRINCE is a bay colt (March 27) by Silver Medallion out of Select Princess trained by Patrick Smellie with Paul Francis aboard. Said to be going nicely in the mornings, but never on a Sunday.
11 – DEADLY NIGHTSHADE is a grey filly (May 7) by Midnight Hawk out of Choo Choo Blue trained by Peter McMaster with Trevor Simpson in the saddle. Did not sparkle in her first run on February 18. Will have to find much more to win this one. Note, Deadly Nightshade races with first-time Lasix.
12 - ROSE APPLE is a chestnut filly (April 12) by Berlino Di Tiger out of She’s Spectacular trained by Keffin Murray with Anthony Thomas aboard. An eye-catcher at exercise, Rose Apple is set for a promising first effort. Of significance, Rose Apple has attracted the interest of top jockey, Anthony Thomas.
