KINGSTON, Jamaica – The second of two three-year-old maiden events is the fifth on Saturday, July 30. 2022. This is Division Two to be contested over four furlongs or 800 metres.
In this race, there are newbies Market Place, Special Gift, General Chief, Lord Burkington, Shewsbury Norm, and Hunza.
Below is the review of all ten horses in this race in post-position order.
1 - MARKET PLACE is the first of the newcomers and is a bay filly (February 25) by Market Rally out of Miss Emily trained by Gresford Smith with Aaron Chatrie in the saddle. The morning clockers are reporting that Market Place has been steadily prepared and is ready to run. The only possible issue is the number one draw coming down the straight. Note, Miss Emily has already produced Top Gear and Silver Hawk.
2 – LAST DANCE (dkb f bay filly by Here Comes Ben out of Cool Embrace) – Has shown nothing in five outings. This trend will continue.
3 – SPECIAL GIFT is the second of the newcomers and is a bay colt (April 9) by Soul Warrior out of Finally Ritta You trained by Ray Phillips with Matthew Bennett in the saddle. Has shown nothing to date at exercise.
4 - GENERAL CHIEF is the third of the newcomers and is a grey colt (April 19) by Savoy Stomp out of Ecstatic trained by Spencer Chung with Jerome Innis in the saddle. Not ready as yet. Note, Ecstatic has already produced Sheer Bliss, Gershwin, Jarreau, and Raja Sarangi.
5 - LORD BURKINGTON is the fourth newcomer and is a chestnut colt (April 10) by Berlino Di Tiger out of Soca Dancer trained by Gary Subratie with Andre Powell in the saddle. Needs time. Note, Soca Dancer has already produced Come Dance with Me.
6 – TIGRAY EXPRESS (b c by Traditional out of Kiri) – This colt has not excited in his two starts to date and that will not change on Saturday.
7 – FEARLESS FIRE (ch f by Fearless Vision out of Morebulletstofire) – The trip is ideal for this chestnut filly, as in her last two efforts of three, she lost ground in the final furlong. There are no terrors among the ten starters, thereby giving Fearless Fire a good chance of getting off the mark. Note, Fearless Fire races with the tongue tie on.
8 - SHREWSBURY NORM is the fifth newcomer and is a grey filly (May 6) by Casual Trick out of Sweet Sugar trained by Ryan Darby with Omar Walker in the saddle. Shrewsbury Norm has made noticeable progress at exercise and is being touted by the morning crowd as the winner, especially given the quality of rivals she is facing.
9 – ENGLISH ANNE (ch f by Buzz Nightmare out of Very Hush Hush) – Will learn.
10 - HUNZA is the sixth newcomer and is a chestnut colt (May 5) by Deputy Glitters out of Tappedoutneedshoes trained by Phillip Elliott with Marshall Porter in the saddle. In for the experience.
