KINGSTON, Jamaica – Returning with the visor on just seven days after racing in the 10-furlong Jamaica St Leger, Emperorofthecats dispatched a field of three-year-old non-winners of three with disdain to win the Caymanas Saturday (July 9) second.
It was the 2-5 favourite, foreigner Madelyn’s Sunshine who took off in the lead with Yellowstone (Dick Cardenas) swopping from the outside draw in the field of seven to challenge.
These two were engaged in a fierce battle for leadership honours which continued when they entered the lane for the final two furlongs. While these two battling each other jockey Shane Ellis on Emperorofthecats watched closely in third place.
In the straight Madelyn’s Sunshine faltered badly as Ellis brought the Carl Anderson trainee between horses and then pulled away to win with ease by 5 ¼ lengths. Yellowstone was second and Madelyn’s Sunshine third,
