TRAINERS’ RACE 2nd QUARTER – MAJOR GAINS BY PATRICK LYNCH | JASON DACOSTA LEADS

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Trainer Patrick “Wacky” Lynch made a significant surge in the trainers’ race during the second quarter (April 1 – June 30) of the 2022 racing year.
At the start of the second quarter Lynch occupied the ninth slot with seven wins and stakes earnings of $4,247,170 based on the statistics provided by the promoting company.
At the end of second quarter Lynch’s stocks rose significantly, moving to fourth on the list with 18 wins (11 wins in three months) and importantly his stakes earnings, built mainly on the back of Blue Vinyl’s victories in the 2000 Guineas and The Kingston, moving from $4,247,170 to $14,409,395, a difference of $10,162,225.31.
At the start of the period under consideration, the leader in the trainers’ championship race was Gary Subratie. Then Subratie saddled 18 winners for stakes earnings of $12,752,955. At the end of the second quarter, Subratie despite wins in The Portmore and the 1000 Guineas by Atomica dropped one place to second with earnings of $23,299,945 compared with earnings of $12,752,955 in the first quarter, a difference of $10,546,990.
The new leader among the trainers is Jason DaCosta. DaCosta, who started the second quarter in second position, with 17 wins and earnings of $12,118,885. He ended the quarter on 41 wins and earnings of 29,993,330, a significant upward thrust of $17,874,415.
Champion trainer Anthony Nunes started the second quarter in third place with 13 wins and earnings of $11,908,820. At the end of the quarter, Nunes maintained his third place with 28 winners, with his earnings standing at $23,076,325, a difference of 11,167,505.
