KINGSTON, Jamaica – In a quick response to the draw positions of his horses Atomica (#five) and D Head Cornerstone (#7) in the Jamaica St Leger trainer Gary Subratie said he was more than pleased with the outcome.
“I did not want any of my horses to be drawn too near to the inside or too wide, that is, on the outside. So, for my, horses Atomica and D Head Cornerstone the draw positions were good and I am pleased,” Subratie said.
Commenting on the preparations of his two horses, Subratie indicated that both were in good nick.
“Atomica is Atomica. She has trained on well and is ready to go. D Head Cornerstone surprised me on Sunday morning last (June 26) at exercise when he galloped 1:29.2 for seven furlongs. D Head Cornerstone is progressing well, he is in good shape, and will give of his best and probably a little more,” Subratie said.
The St Leger is the second jewel of the Triple Crown and will be contested on Saturday, July 2, 2022, 2022, by three-year-old colts, geldings, and fillies, with the latter receiving a five-pound sex allowance.
