KINGSTON, Jamaica - Overnight Allowance horses stretch out over nine furlongs (1,800), a rare distance these days, tomorrow Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Caymanas Park. Eight horses have been nominated to contest this event for the major share of the $1.05 million.
The analysts have done the work and their findings are published below.
  1. GAMBLER: (5 b m by Freedom for Jante – Kennisha) – Well held in eighth place over one mile on April 23. Gambler can only hope for a lesser share.
  1. BILLY WHIZZ: (4 ch g by Northern Giant – Khadiliah) – Was expected to give Mahogany a fight last weekend over six furlongs (1,200m) but Billy Whizz failed to land a blow, mainly hindered by the one draw. That sprint run must have assisted in the preparation of Billy Whizz, with nine furlongs an ideal trip plus a generous weight to tote, is presented with a wide-open door to the winners’ enclosure.
  1. SANTORINI: (4 ch g by Soul Warrior – Milestone) – Santorini races in a grouping that he has not officially reached as yet, and as such can be taken out of contention. Out of his league.
  1. UNCLE FRANK: (8 dkb g by Storm Craft – Dusty Milly) – Has no chance of winning.
  1. LABAN: (5 g h by Sensational Slam – For Trixie) – Good sort whose winning effort will be thwarted by the distance. Laban has not raced longer than seven furlongs since September of last year. Note, Laban races with the blinkers and figure-8 off.
  1. BERN NOTICE: (4 ch c by Bern Identity – Blufield) – Has taken his time and now is a worthy candidate for the Overnight level. Bern Notice was a fighting winner one grade below 14 days ago. This chestnut colt will need the run among new rivals, but he is going to go through Overnight quickly.
  1. SUPREME SOUL: (6 ch h by Soul Warrior - Beware Baby) – Slowly but surely rounding into useful form. Supreme Soul was beaten by Hover Craft in a recent call at nine furlongs and 25 yards (1,820m). The distance is up his street and is the main threat to the likely favourite Billy Whizz.
  1. ATLANTIC BLUE: (7 ch h by Strikewhileitshot – Luvable) – Finished third behind I Am Fred and Curlin’s Affair over one mile. Atlantic Blue should do well but a winning effort is not on the cards.
