KINGSTON, Jamaica – There will be three races for the three-year-old population on the Saturday card of May 7, 2022, including the The Portmore, one of the major preps for the upcoming Classics. The other two are maiden events for fillies only divided into two sections over six furlongs.
The first section has nine starters, and they are analysed below.
1 – SHE’S MY FRIEND is a bay filly (May 10) by Natural Selection out of My Friend Lucy trained by Jason DaCosta with Reyan Lewis in the saddle. This filly has not done anything in her three starts to garner any interest.
2 – MILA’S ALL THAT is a chestnut filly (February 3) by Bern Identity out of Salty Talk trained by Ian Parsard with Dane Dawkins in the saddle. Has been heavily backed in her four starts, always finding one or two better on the day. Now, a clear opportunity is given to Mila’s All That to shed the dreaded maiden tag. Note, Mila’s All That races with the blinkers off.
3 – BERLINO’S CHOICE is a chestnut filly (February 22) by Berlino Di Tiger out of Mete-Orite trained by Anthony Nunes with Dick Cardenas in the saddle. Has been thereabouts in all her six starts but is yet to deliver the winning punch. The wait continues.
4 – NORTH LONDON is a bay filly (May 8) by Savoy Stomp out of Right Marker trained by Ryan Darby with Omar Walker in the saddle. North London has been slowly finding herself having hit the board in her last two efforts. More improvement is expected in what must be her best opportunity of getting off the mark. Note, North London races with the visor off.
5 – SHE’S FANTASTIC is a dark bay filly (March 21) by Bern Identity out of Fantabulous trained by Dennis Thwaites with Youville Pinnock in the saddle. She’s Fantastic has been getting better and better, especially in her last two efforts. She gets a substantial pull in the weights, which might be enough to get her home for her first win.
6 – EDINA MARSH is a bay filly (April 25) by Buzz Nightmare out of Sheza Spy trained by Donovan Plummer with Andre Powell in the saddle. Races for the first time and will benefit from the experience.
7 – AAVA JAELYN is a chestnut filly (March 20) by Tapilu out of Boogywoogyprincess trained by Donovan Thompson with Andre Martin in the saddle. Still learning her trade.
8 – INFINITO is a bay filly (June 2) by Silent Valor out of Salino trained by Winchester McIntosh with Calvin Bailey in the saddle. Has no realistic chance of winning even after 11 starts.
9 – MISS CALEESI is a grey filly (April 4) by Midnight Hawk out of Aunt Rhoda trained by Delroy Wisdom with Linton Steadman in the saddle.
CONCLUSION – This event should be decided between Mine’s All That, She’s Fantastic and North London. The winning nod is given to She’s Fantastic.
