KINGSTON, Jamaica – One of the third three-year-old offerings on the Saturday card of April 23, is a maiden event going 7 ½ furlongs.
THE QUICK GALLOPER continues the THREE-YEAR-OLD WATCH with an analysis of the runners in this race done in post-position order.
KP CHOICE is a three-year-old bay colt (March 10) by Nasheet out of Drop Them trained by Phillip Lee with Andre Powell in the saddle. KP Choice was faltering in his last effort on April 9 at 6 six furlongs, making the additional 1 ½ furlongs on Saturday, not to his liking. Note, KP Choice races with the blinkers and figure 8 on plus first-time Lasix.
JUSTIN BIDEN is a three-year-old chestnut gelding (April 15) by Lion Tamer out of Wagon Wheel trained by Lawrence Freemantle with Raddesh Roman in the saddle. Justin Biden has done very little in his seven outings and nothing better is expected except a minor placing.
ASURETY is a three-year-old chestnut gelding (March 9) by Perfect Curlin by Sure To Cure trained by Anthony Nunes with Robert Halledeen in the saddle. Asurety raced on Saturday last going the two turns of 9 furlongs and 25 yards but was a complete no-show. Reverting to a shorter distance may assist Asurety in hitting the board. Note, Asurety races with the visor off.
AKA STORM is a three-year-old bay colt (April 23) by Soul Warrior out of Kandi With A K trained by Patrick Lynch with Andre Martin in the saddle. The only thing of note is that AKA Storm races with first time Lasix.
EL CID is a three-year-old chestnut gelding (April 21) trained by Anthony Nunes with Dick Cardenas in the saddle. El Cid was expected to do much better (seven days ago) than finishing fourth eleven lengths behind Prince Sanjay and four lengths adrift of Sir Tajay, who El Cid meets again in this one. This race provides El Cid with probably the best opportunity of releasing the maiden tag. Note, El Cid races with the visor off.
LEGAL BOMB is a three-year-old chestnut colt (February 26) by Legal Process out of Fantasy trained by Patrick Lynch with Dane Dawkins in the saddle. Note, Legal Bomb races with the blinkers on.
HOWILOOKIN is a three-year-old bay colt (February 12) by Western Classic out of Gold Charm trained by Anthony Nunes with Tevin Foster in the saddle. Howilookin according to clockers has been looking better at morning exercise with many of these gentlemen believing that he has a good chance of fighting this one out. Note, races with the visor on.
SIR TAJAY is a three-year-old bay colt (April 15) by Traditional out of Lastochka trained by Steven Todd with Roger Hewitt in the saddle. Sir Tajay did well to finish behind his stablemate Prince Sanjay seven days ago with both El Cid and Asurety trailing behind. Sir Tajay will find going shorter on Saturday more to his liking.
