THE QUICK GALLOPER ASSESSES THE 3-DAY EASTER RACING CARNIVAL – THE TRAINERS

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The three-day Easter Racing Carnival (April 16 – 18), started with trainer Jason DaCosta leading in the trainers’ championship. 
DaCosta led current champion, Anthony Nunes, by $928,285 (according to official figures), while Nunes was $196,115 ahead of third-placed Gary Subratie. 
Below is the table of the top ten trainers before the Easter Carnival.

Major changes were to take place after the three consecutive days of racing were completed. 
DaCosta had four winners (Baton Rouge, Hover Craft, Sunset Silhoutte, and Double Diva. 
Nunes after the first two days, the Saturday, and the Sunday was winless but rallied to score a natural hattrick on the Monday (Aphelios, Amy The Butcher, and Morimoto). 
Subratie had one winner (Duke), over the three days of racing. 
When the dust settled on Easter Monday evening, after all the first places, and the other placings were tabulated, DaCosta had increased his lead, according to official figures, to $1,607.435. 
Nunes widened his advantage over Subratie, who led in the championship for the first three months of 2022, to $1,158,415. 
It strongly feels like the racing public is in for another intriguing battle involving Nunes and DaCosta for the championship, and there are many race days left in the year. 
THE QUICK GALLOPER notes with interest the presence of trainer Dennis Pryce on the top ten list of trainers. Pryce has so far gained nine wins in 2022, from only 33 starts.
