KINGSTON, Jamaica – Veteran conditioner Gresford Smith saddled winner number 4 for the year when his six-year-old bay mare turned out to be an easy winner of the fifth race of 11 on the Saturday race card at Caymanas Park about some five minutes ago.
In an Optional Claiming event ($250,000 - $200,000) for four-year-olds and up run over the five furlongs straight course, Lady V piloted by apprentice Reyan Lewis came from off the pace to beat Royal Girl and Call to Duty by 3 ¾ lengths.
Of note, 99-1 shot, Call to Duty paid a whopping $868 to place.
Named after jockey Phillip Parchment, Lady V was clocked in a time of 1:02.3.
