In Caymanas Sunday fourth
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Trevor ‘Slicer’ Simpson, without doubt, one of the most popular jockeys ever at Caymanas Park, demonstrated why he is so loved by locals, with another of his trademark performances in the pigskin, this time aboard Morse Code for trainer Jason DaCosta.
Simpson on his only ride on the Sunday (March 27) card, brought home Morse Code in the fourth event, which was a four-year-old and upwards (non-winners of two) call at five furlongs round.
The former five-time champion jockey was not perturbed while racing comfortably in third place, on the rails, behind leader the 2-5 favourite True Bravado (Dane Nelson), followed by Nuttin But Trouble (Natalie Berger).
True Bravado straightened with the advantage with Morse Code challenging while still on the inside. With a half-a-furlong to go, Morse Code, after a change of the stick from right to left by Simpson got up in the final yardage to claim victory by a head over True Bravado. JJ The Striker (Roger Hewitt) was third.
Simpson only returned to his home track yesterday (Saturday, March 26), for his winter break. He rides for most of the calendar year in Canada.
