A first winner for jockey Shavon Townsend
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Dahra Deborah opened the 10-race Ash Wednesday programme with a facile victory in a five-year-old and upwards maiden contest going 4 ½ furlongs.
With Shavon Townsend in the irons for trainer Anthony Smith, it was easy pickings for Dahra Deborah who took pole position when the gates opened and thereafter was never in danger of relinquishing that spot.
In the end, Dahra Deborah has 1 ¼ lengths to spare on second-placed 13-1 chance Valiant (Roger Hewitt), with Savitar (Shane Richardson) third.
This was the first winner in 2022 for both the jockey and the trainer.
