KINGSTON, Jamaica – By keeping a straight course from the number three draw in a 4 ½ furlong event, Vice Cherry Pie was able to shed the maiden tag (four-year-old and upwards) in the Caymanas Saturday third.
Trained by Edward Stanberry with Ruja Lahoe on board, Vice Cherry Pie had to work hard over the last 1 ½ furlongs to get on terms with leader Silverstine (Natalie Berger); Plutologist (Linton Steadman) was also in the mix.
With hands twirling, Lahoe got the best effort out of Vice Cherry Pie who went into her top gallop in the final half a furlong to win by three parts of a length. Plutologist was second and Cup Cake (Tevin Foster) third.
This was win number 5 this year for both Lahoe and Stanberry.
